his first halloween

It is his first Halloween. The excitement is in the air. I am not sure he is aware of all the fun he is missing yet, but his sister and brother none the less try to keep him in the loop. Their joy is surly understood. Even by a baby not yet a month old. I wasn't sure how we were going to get through all the holidays this year with a newborn, but so far so good. Yes, it is a little trickier trying to get through homeschooling and holiday preparations while changing a million diapers and nursing all day, but I am happy to say that I am surviving and keeping a positive attitude through it all. (well, except the other night when I was wondering what in the world have I done!) So this week we have been preparing for Halloween. Decorating the house, making pies, carving pumpkins, and of course making costumes. John made Pilot a knight vest with a paper bag and metal tape that is amazing! I will post costume pictures tomorrow. Jetta wants to be a vampire, so I will be doing some face painting tonight. I think Scout will just have to wait until next year to dress up. I think he has had enough excitement for one week. Now I need to get  little rest before tonight.

halloween art

I love how creative the kids are. I provide them with the materials and then they have their own ideas. I just get to sit back and enjoy what they create.

The Feederbrook Fiber Project : Felting

Thank you to my Mom and Mother -in-law for taking my kids to the farm this past weekend. They got to dye, and learn how to felt the wool from their sheep into little pumpkins. They brought some more wool home so they could teach me how to do it. I have to go to the fabric store and pick up some felting needles this week.

We had such a great experience with this fiber project. The kids learned so much over the year about where wool comes from and what we can do with it. Most of all I appreciated how passionate Lisa (the farmer) was about the sheep and the wool. I love for my children to see people who truly love what they do and express to much joy in their work. It is inspiring for all of us.
