Cutting Apples

As part of our homeschooling days, I feel that it is very important that Jetta learns practical and fun life skills. Cooking is a favorite for her and me too. Last week she learned how to properly use a knife. Check out her finger position on those apples. She created a beautiful apple cake with me as her assistant. She is learning proportions of ingredients and her recipes are getting better and better. This one being absolutely delicious. I would have never put so many apples in, but I am so glad she did. Now she loves to use her grown up knife and is the best help at meal time.

Reading Together -Library Day

Jetta enjoys reading lots of books to Pilot and he could sit there all day and listen to her read. She tells the story and she looks at the pictures. Last week I took them to the Library and they got their first library card. Now every Thursday is library day. We go to the library and they each get to pick 2 books out and they stand in line and check them out all by themselves. They just love it! Yesterday was library day, so we decided to walk to the library on the path and Jetta found a 4 leaf clover. It was her lucky day. I guess she is following in her Aunt Jessica's footsteps.

Pilot and his cars

Pilot contiues to be a joy. He has really started talking now and loves to talk about cars and motorcycles. He couldn't find his race cars the other night and he kept on waking up all night screaming "Where's my race cars!?"

My girl

As Jetta is getting older I am feeling our relationship getting stronger each day. She is such a beautiful person and I feel so lucky to get to share this time with her.

I love homeschooling

We are now officially homeschooling Jetta. When asked what she wanted to say about it, here is what she said.

" We're having a great time time homeschooling! It is fun and you get to go to places together and see what homeschooling is all about. You can homeschool with friends or by yourself. You can make it so it's fun because you draw, and paint and learn to play the piano. And you can always smell flowers and ducks! (giggle) Everybody is the best champion homeschooler!" Jetta - age 5

I would say that is a wonderful explanation of her experience with this so far. It certainly makes me feel like we have made the right choice for our family.
